THE CHALLENGE

Blooms The Chemist is a growing pharmacy group that, by 2007, was experiencing the challenges that often accompany rapid and organic expansion.

As the network grew, technology environments varied significantly between stores. A lack of consistent standards and the use of multiple applications made it difficult for the support office to manage systems centrally or gain a clear, timely view of business performance.

Although data existed across the organisation, it was fragmented across different formats and systems. This made consolidated reporting and business intelligence difficult, limiting the group’s ability to measure trends and results accurately.

In addition, parts of the existing infrastructure were prone to failure. When systems were unavailable, stores lost valuable trading time and both staff and customers experienced frustration.

Blooms The Chemist needed a clear ICT strategy that would:
