In 2008 TechnologyFX had an opportunity to consult with the Capital Chemist Group based in Canberra, ACT. TechnologyFX had previously worked on a transactional basis with members of the group but was asked to put forward a standard offering covering the best practices in managing the technology solutions at the group level and at the individual store level.
As a growing Pharmacy Chain operating in the community sector, Capital began to recognize the need for solid and consistent IT Services and a partner with the capability to put forward strong IT solutions. The group also decided that it was time to consolidate systems and embrace big data, this covered Point of Sale and Dispense systems.
In recent times the group also wanted to execute a good solution around adopting the cloud and bring better collaboration to the many members to the group.
“The TechnologyFX team are reliable, professional and act promptly to assist with any issues. In our view TechnologyFX is the leading provider of IT Installation, support and maintenance to the community pharmacy sector”
PETER DOWNING, GROUP BUSINESS MANAGER, CAPITAL CHEMIST
TechnologyFX engaged at the group level and at the store level to build understanding of the client’s business model and their unique requirements. It was clear from the outset that the customer required a standardized solution so that the business could build a template for all sites with a robust base. HP Point of Sale was architected including a strong server solution so that each site would have redundancy and commercially graded equipment to handle the rigors of a busy retail and pharmacy environment.
A big part of handling the company’s requirement was building a customized managed services solution so that site issues would be picked up quickly and managed in a proactive manner. This resolved issues quickly and improved downtime rates across the group.
At the group level work was done to assist the consolidation and rollout of a single point of sale solution that would align all sites to a single data point allowing the group to gain large benefits from Big Data and an improved logistics solution.
To leverage the cloud, TechnologyFX rolled out a Microsoft 365 solution and built in virtualized server technology to managed central applications and data storage. Redundancy and security management was handled by TechnologyFX managed solution preventing security breaches and data loss.
In this day and age the choices are greater than ever and the responsibility of getting the right technology mix is even more pressing. It is clear that service providers are spoilt with choice. From a range of open source technologies right through to robust commercial products with years of operation; TechFlare faces an increasing demand to invest in the right technologies on behalf of our clients.
At the forefront of our choices is working with Microsoft to deliver their expanding range of solutions on the back of the Windows and Active Directory environment. Partnering with Microsoft, means TechnologyFX has the capacity to deliver an end to end solution for most clients.
HP has delivered for a long time to the market and TechnologyFX has spent a lot of time building solutions around the HP suite. This covers everything from the server range, storage, desktop, mobility and point of sale.
Key to our success is reliability and consistency. TechnologyFX has invested heavily in Telstra for these reasons. The behemoth Australia national has a world class infrastructure and network and leveraging this has been key in delivering on cloud strategies and consistent up time in managing environments.
